DACL is a creative collaboration researching the intersections of digital design, the emerging technologies of Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and creative storytelling with theatre and performance.

DACL is a partnership between Beth Kates of Playground Studios  who serves as its artistic director and founder, and Playwrights’ Workshop Montréal (PWM), led by Artistic & Executive Director Emma Tibaldo. Core partners include Gil Garratt, Artistic Director, Blyth Festival; Brian Drader, Executive Director, Manitoba Association of Playwrights; and Heidi Taylor, Artistic & Executive Director, Playwrights Theatre Centre.

Focusing on practice-based experimentation with artists, technologists, academics and other community members, the partnership was created out of a shared interest in examining the state of digital creation tools and digital dramaturgy.
